Employment Type:\n \nFull time\n \nShift:\n \nDescription:\n \nABOUT TRINITY HEALTH LIVONIA HOSPITAL\n \nTrinity Health Livonia Hospital provides comprehensive and compassionate care to the Wayne County community. The facility features a 24-hour emergency department, Level II Trauma Center, inpatient and outpatient surgery, general medicine, imaging services, physical medicine and rehabilitation services, intensive care unit, cancer care, cardiovascular care, senior services and birthing and women's services.\n \nThe 304-bed community hospital was founded and opened by the Felician Sisters in 1959.\n \nPOSITION PURPOSE\n \nThe Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provides service to the medical staff and hospital leadership for the RHM in order to assist them in fulfilling their mission, plans and objectives which includes their responsibilities to the patient and the community for the provision of quality and cost-effective care. This position has impact on the quality and financial outcomes of clinical and operational departments throughout the RHM.\n \nIn all roles and activities, it is anticipated that the CMO will network and build consensus, collaborate, and problem solve. This position will play a key role in the implementation of strategic and operating plans as well as service line development, in particular the strategies for physician relationships and service line development. These activities and initiatives shall be accomplished through the existing and revised formal medical staff structures/committees, Medical Group/Health Network and voluntary medical staff multi-facility physician task forces, committees as well as the CEO and Executive Team meetings and informative relationships.\n \nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n \nProvides an effective bridge between RHM management staff and facilities medical staffs to create superior relationships with physicians and to secure physician input into major decisions.\n \nDirectly responsible to the CEO for centralized medical staff functions such as medical staff development plan and recruitment, and to the RMH President and other members of the Executive Team for medical directorships at RHM and all physician relationship activities.\n \nSupports the formal medical staff function at all facilities. May chair committees as is appropriate. Works closely with the facility President and Medical Staff President.\n \nHolds self out as a resource in dealing with difficult medical staff decisions. Assists in the development and implementation of the physician Continuous Quality Improvement process throughout the RHM, provides for the functioning and effectiveness of quality improvement systems to include internal and external operating systems that affect the delivery of physician care within the RHM. Sets a universal standard for the delivery of patient care.\n \nIs the leader in the setting of goals and improvement plans for all Trinity Health quality standards.\n \nParticipates and assists in the development of plans and implementation in all service line and patient care competency development.\n \nIs a resource and influencer in the accomplishment of needed goals and strategies.\n \nPromotes all programs and services to referring physicians. Educates physicians and office personnel on all aspects of the RHM. Is a resource and problem solver when service issues arise.\n \nWorking with the President of the facility medical staff, provides leadership development opportunities.\n \nSets goals and objectives for development of key medical staff for the RHM. Is a role model for changing behavior and creates opportunities for better understanding by medical leadership of business and strategic operations of the RHM.\n \nWorks directly with the Senior Vice President of Clinical Care at Trinity Health in bridging the clinical arena of the RHM to the development of Trinity Health standards of performance and Trinity Health policy.\n \nCreates unity among the facility medical staffs and where appropriate seeks ways to collaborate and combine operations to effect greater teamwork.\n \nSupervises and manages the medical affairs division to ensure achievement of objectives in a cost-effective manner and to ensure the continued improvement of physician/physician, and physician/administration and physician/community relationships.\n \nParticipates with the Senior Leadership Team of the RHM in all Managed Care strategies and negotiations. Participates in Senior Leadership Council meetings and is a member of Executive Leadership.\n \nProvides leadership to all the RHM management teams. Is a resource to them for problem solving and physician input.\n \nMaintains professional growth and development. Keeps up on changing trends in the healthcare business. Graduate from an accredited university with a Master's in Business Administration, a Masters in Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.\n \nAbility to work in a complex matrix reporting environment.\n \nProven leader with minimum of 15 years in clinical practice and 5 years executive leadership.\n \nDemonstrated ability to lead and implement quality improvement initiatives. \n \nDemonstrated ability to lead medical staff quality initiatives.\n \nStrong verbal and written communication skills, to effectively discuss quality issues and performance and to foster culture of the RHM and Trinity Health.\n \nStrong leadership/influencing skills are required with the ability to work effectively within a RHM and influence others and achieve results.\n \nAdvanced interpersonal, management and organizational skills are necessary.\n \nA personal presence which is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, values and guiding behaviors of Trinity Health.\n \nInterpersonal Skills: \n \nArticulate and clear in all communications with others.
