    About Amazon

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one. At Amazon, it is always "Day 1."

    Role Overview

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a key executive leader responsible for driving the global brand and marketing strategy across Amazon's vast ecosystem. This includes Global Retail, Amazon Prime, Prime Video, Amazon Music, Amazon Devices (e.g., Echo, Kindle), and global sustainability initiatives. The CMO will bridge the gap between world-class creative storytelling and rigorous, data-driven performance marketing. As the chief steward of one of the world's most recognizable brands, this leader will obsess over the customer journey, drive massive global acquisition and retention efforts, and ensure Amazon's marketing investments yield maximum ROI while building long-term brand equity.

    • Leverage Amazon's unparalleled data infrastructure and machine learning capabilities to drive hyper-personalized marketing at scale.
    • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), and brand sentiment, reporting directly to the S-Team and Board of Directors.

    Creative & Content Leadership

    • Lead global creative teams and external agency partners to develop culture-defining campaigns, including major events like Prime Day, the Super Bowl, and global holiday campaigns.
    • Partner closely with Amazon Studios, MGM, and Prime Video leadership to align marketing strategies for flagship entertainment properties and cultural moments.

    Customer Experience & Insights

    Team Leadership & Culture

    • Attract, develop, and retain a world-class marketing organization of thousands of professionals across performance marketing, brand, creative, PR, and social media.
    • Foster a culture of "Invent and Simplify" within the marketing organization, encouraging bold, high-risk/high-reward campaigns (the "Day 1" mentality).

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
