Job Summary and Qualifications

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Galen College of Nursing serves as both the CIO and Chief Technology & Transformation Officer, providing visionary and strategic leadership across the full spectrum of technology infrastructure and enterprise transformation. The CIO is responsible for innovating and modernizing the colleges digital landscape, driving the development and implementation of future-ready technology ecosystems that support academic operations, administrative, and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive technology and transformation strategy that supports academic, administrative, and clinical operations - aligning infrastructure modernization, AI adoption, and digital innovation with Galens mission. • Serve as a strategic advisor and visionary to executive leadership, ensuring technology strategy is tightly integrated with institutional planning, transformation goals, and HCA enterprise priorities. • Oversee implementation and optimization of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and instructional technologies to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. • Ensure IT infrastructure modernization aligns with regulatory standards, FERPA compliance, while enabling resilient future-ready infrastructure. • Support hybrid and remote learning models by maintaining robust, secure, and scalable digital environments. • Collaborate with nursing faculty and instructional designers to evaluate and adopt emerging technologies for clinical simulation and education. • Oversee digital product innovation, including development of new academic and operational solutions, such as learning experience tools, mobile applications, simulation technologies. • Build cross-functional teams to pilot and scale high-impact innovations. • Establish an innovation pipeline to evaluate emerging technologies, fostering experimentation and continuous improvement. • Manage cybersecurity and data governance policies to protect sensitive student, faculty, and patient-related information. • Foster partnerships with healthcare institutions to support interoperability, data exchange, and collaborative research. • Lead enterprise-wide data modernization and standardization efforts, creating a unified data architecture that enables analytics, reporting, and evidence-based decision-making. • Champion AI integration and automation, deploying technologies that enhance student outcomes, faculty productivity, and operational efficiency. • Develop analytics capabilities to support institutional research, student performance tracking, and continuous improvement. • Establish a responsible AI and data governance framework, ensuring ethical, secure, and transparent use of emerging technologies. • Champion digital equity and accessibility across all learning platforms and technologies. • Support and advise the President and CEO in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organizations mission and strategic vision. • Participate in planning meetings and committees related to large institution-wide projects and maintain a big-picture vision when making recommendations. • Participate in overall business planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as related to the organizations competitive position. • Determine long-term organization-wide information needs and develop overall strategy for information needs, systems development, and hardware acquisition. • Act to ensure integrity of organization-wide data, proprietary information, and related intellectual property through information security and access management. • Act as the highest interface with non-technical user functions in determining overall information systems approach. • Manage vendors who supply and support software applications to ensure quality delivery to Galen. • Develop, coordinate, guide, and execute IT systems strategic and operational plans, participating proactively with the executive leadership and management teams to optimize use of information technology in support of the corporate ITG mission and business strategy. • Lead the development and implementation of corporate ITG initiatives that improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development opportunities. • Oversee and be accountable for ensuring efficacy of the IT environments supporting all solutions and systems, ensuring environments are stable, efficient, and compliant with HCA standards. • Ensure all these environments operate according to negotiated and established service levels and in accordance with enterprise standards and guidelines. • Foster utilization of HCA standard solutions and ensure that Galen solutions and initiatives are not in conflict with HCA enterprise solutions, processes, standards, and policies. • Develop and maintain annual operating and capital budgets for operations, monitoring IT activities and costs related to the utilization of resources required to meet programmatic operational requirements. • Monitor IT activities and costs related to the healthcare operations. • Communicate IT plans, policies, and technology trends throughout the organization, including management groups and professional staff. • Recruit, develop, and retain management staff. • Ensure appropriate training and development programs are utilized to attract, retain, and develop personnel required to support information services. • Evaluate alternatives, perform cost-benefit analysis, and recommend solutions within corporate policies and standards.

Education and Experience

• Bachelors degree - Required • Masters degree - Preferred • 7 years of experience in senior IT leadership role - Required • Experience in AI strategy deployment and governance is strongly preferred • 10 years of experience in software development, technology, and implementation - Required
