Position Summary:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing all financial, accounting, treasury, planning, reporting, and operational finance functions of the life sciences company. The ideal candidate is an accounting-first financial leader, ideally rooted in a Big Four or major public accounting firm, with a proven track record of steering private companies through the rigorous IPO pipeline. You will be directly responsible for finalizing PCAOB audits, crafting the S-1 filing, implementing strict internal controls, and building out a high-performing public company accounting team. This role requires a professional who pairs deep technical expertise in GAAP/IFRS and regulatory compliance with the precise, audit-tested mindset developed in public accounting.

This position is office-based and reports to the CEO and works with all leaders in the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board regarding growth, capital allocation, investments, and risk management.
• Lead long-range financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Oversee annual operating plans, budgets, and rolling forecasts.
• Analyze operational performance, profitability, cash flow, and capital utilization.
• Support due diligence processes for potential acquisitions.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and applicable regulations.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
• Manage audits and relationships with external auditors.
• Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance frameworks.
• Monitor liquidity, working capital, and cash forecasting.
• Manage banking relationships and treasury operations.
• Ensure compliance with SEC, SOX, FDA-related financial requirements, and other applicable regulations when relevant.
• Oversee enterprise risk management activities.
• Maintain robust financial controls and compliance programs.
• Support Board governance and audit committee activities.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA or equivalent advanced financial qualification preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience.
• 7+ years in senior executive finance roles, preferably within biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or healthcare.
• Strong knowledge of business models, manufacturing, and commercialization.
• Experience managing complex budgets and financial operations in a growth-stage environment.
• Public company experience or IPO readiness experience.

• $350,000- $450,000 /year
