About the Opportunity



We are seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead a behavioral health hospital in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. This executive will have overall responsibility for the hospital's clinical quality, day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance, financial performance, team leadership, and strategic growth.



This is an excellent opportunity for a proven behavioral health or psychiatric hospital executive who can combine strong healthcare leadership with business and operational expertise.



Key Responsibilities


  • Provide overall leadership and direction for hospital operations and performance.
  • Develop and execute strategic and annual operating plans in partnership with the governing body and medical leadership.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, patient-centered behavioral healthcare.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgeting, P&L, capital planning, and revenue growth.
  • Maintain hospital licensing, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and survey readiness.
  • Lead quality improvement, patient safety, QAPI, and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain physicians, psychiatrists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Build and lead a high-performing executive and management team.
  • Develop relationships with physicians, referral sources, healthcare providers, government agencies, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Lead business development, marketing, service-line growth, and expansion initiatives.
  • Manage relationships and contract negotiations with commercial payers.
  • Develop a strong continuum of care, including outpatient and community-based behavioral health services.
  • Partner effectively with the governing board, medical staff, and corporate leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and healthcare regulations.

Ideal Candidate



The ideal candidate will have senior executive-level experience operating a behavioral health, psychiatric, acute care, or similar healthcare facility and a demonstrated record of achieving strong clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial outcomes.



Required/Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Marketing, Clinical or related field; MBA/MHA preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of senior leadership, CEO, hospital administrator, COO, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in behavioral health or psychiatric hospital operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with Joint Commission/JCAHO surveys, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, P&L, and business development experience.
  • Experience recruiting and retaining physicians, psychiatrists, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical operations and quality/patient-safety programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience with behavioral health hospital startup, expansion, or service-line development is highly valued.
  • Joint venture experience is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
