Chief Estimator - Structural Concrete Construction - Base Salary to 130k/year - Englewood Cliffs, NJ

• Our client is an established structural concrete construction contractor serving commercial construction projects throughout the New York and New Jersey market. They are seeking a Chief Estimator to lead estimating and preconstruction activities for cast-in-place structural concrete foundations and superstructures.
• This position focuses on contractor-side concrete estimating, including quantity takeoffs, detailed cost estimates, bid preparation, formwork, reinforcing steel, labor productivity, equipment costs, and concrete construction means and methods. The Chief Estimator will oversee the estimating process from initial project review through final bid submission, working with general contractors, construction managers, vendors, subcontractors, and field operations teams.

Responsibilities:

• Lead estimating and preconstruction activities for cast-in-place structural concrete foundations and superstructures.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid packages, and final proposals for structural concrete construction projects.
• Estimate labor, materials, equipment, concrete placement, reinforcing steel, formwork systems, and subcontractor costs.
• Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
• Evaluate construction sequencing, labor productivity, concrete construction means and methods, and constructability considerations.
• Manage competitive bidding activities, including bid solicitations, subcontractor and vendor pricing, bid leveling, and final proposal preparation.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, constructability challenges, and value engineering opportunities during the estimating process.
• Coordinate with general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and project teams throughout preconstruction and bidding.
• Develop competitive bid strategies, evaluate estimated project costs, and support the pursuit of profitable structural concrete construction projects.
• Manage multiple estimating assignments and bid deadlines in a high-volume construction environment.

Qualifications:

• Significant estimating experience working directly for a structural concrete contractor, concrete subcontractor, or comparable concrete construction organization required.
• Extensive experience estimating cast-in-place structural concrete foundations and concrete superstructures required.
• Experience preparing detailed construction estimates, quantity takeoffs, competitive bids, and final proposals for structural concrete projects required.
• Knowledge of concrete construction, formwork systems, reinforcing steel (rebar), concrete placement, labor productivity, equipment requirements, construction sequencing, and concrete construction means and methods required.
• Experience reading and interpreting structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents required.
• Experience developing and evaluating labor, material, equipment, formwork, and subcontractor pricing required.
• Experience managing competitive bids, developing bid strategies, and evaluating project profitability required.
• Experience identifying project risks, scope gaps, constructability challenges, and cost-saving opportunities during preconstruction required.
• Experience coordinating directly with general contractors, construction managers, vendors, subcontractors, and project teams required.
• Experience managing multiple construction estimates and bid deadlines required.

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 100k - 130k/year range (flexible dependent on experience)
