We exist to make humanity more free. For most of human history, you farmed or you starved. Technology gave people more time for the things they wanted to do, instead of things they had to do. Powerful AI will be the biggest lever for human choice we've ever built - but only if models are aligned with what humanity actually wants. There are groups building AI who don't share these goals. Whoever deploys frontier compute infrastructure fastest will decide whether AI expands human freedom or shrinks it.
We're singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else, rethinking every layer of the stack. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them - with teams spanning hardware and software. Speed and scale are our key differentiators. Come be a part of building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI.
We hire people who care deeply about this problem space. If that is you, please apply!
Be a barrel. Full autonomy. Own things end to end, take on scope without being asked, no permission required to operate outside your core role.
Insane urgency. We drive everything forward as fast as possible.
Reason from first principles. Challenge every assumption. Zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins.
Love of the game. The frontier of AI is the most interesting problem of our time. We put in long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
Build something that actually matters. If you're going to spend your time, spend it on something that matters to the world.
You'll join the product engineering group that designs the electrical equipment inside Fluidstack's data centers: medium-voltage switchgear, low-voltage switchboards and busway, and the prefabricated electrical skids and e-houses that carry them to site. We specify and design this equipment as products, not one-off procurements, so the same designs repeat across gigawatt-scale campuses and arrive on a schedule the build can hold.
Examples of key problems the team is working on
Moving electrical rooms off the critical path by building them as factory-tested skids and e-houses that ship with the switchgear already installed and wired.
Designing enclosures that hold switchgear ratings, arc-flash relief, cooling, and fire protection in outdoor installations across very different climates.
Qualifying skid and e-house fabricators and holding them to one drawing set across repeat orders.
Turning field and commissioning findings into design changes that reach the next production lot.
Own the electrical skid and e-house product. Define the standard enclosure families, layouts, and equipment fit-outs Fluidstack buys, and hold fabricators to them.
Run the technical specification. Write and maintain the skid and e-house specifications, covering structure, enclosure ratings, HVAC and pressurization, arc-flash relief, grounding, cable entry, fire detection and suppression, and the interfaces to switchgear, transformers, and site civil work.
Lead fabricator engineering. Review fabricator drawings, run factory acceptance and integrated tests before shipment, and close technical exceptions before release.
Integrate the equipment. Coordinate with the switchgear, switchboard, and controls engineers so each e-house ships as a tested system, not a shell with parts inside.
Deliver to site. Set the shipping, rigging, setting, and site-connection requirements so an e-house energizes on the construction schedule.
The below is a starting point. We always make space for exceptional people, so if you don't fit this role exactly, tell us where you would.
15+ years of electrical engineering on prefabricated electrical skids, e-houses, or power control rooms, at a fabricator or specifying and commissioning them for industrial or mission-critical facilities.
Hands-on with medium- and low-voltage switchgear installation inside enclosures, including arc-flash venting, clearances, cable management, and grounding.
You have delivered at least one e-house program from specification through factory test and site energization.
Working knowledge of NEC, IEEE C37.20, NFPA 70E, and the structural and HVAC requirements for outdoor electrical enclosures.
You have reviewed fabricator submittals and run factory acceptance tests, and you know which exceptions matter.
You write specifications that a fabricator can bid without a meeting.
You're comfortable with regular travel: expect 25% or more, depending on business needs.
Most of our engineering team, stakeholders, and work are based in Austin, TX, and we value working in person. We have a strong preference for Austin and run a hybrid model, but we're open to other locations for the right role and candidate.
Bonus: Professional Engineer license. Modular construction or factory-built infrastructure experience. Exposure to skids for high-density compute loads.
We are committed to pay equity and transparency.
