Location: UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital

1451 El Camino Real, The Villages, FL 32159  

Schedule: 8hrs. shift Monday - Friday | 40hrs. per week

The Chemistry Department Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Chemistry section, including routine and special chemistry, immunoassay, urinalysis, and therapeutic drug monitoring as applicable. This position requires an individual who is highly skilled in clinical chemistry and its relationship to patient results, including instrument performance, method validation, calibration, and quality control. The supervisor oversees staffing and workflow, troubleshoots analyzer issues, reviews QC and proficiency testing performance, and ensures timely and accurate reporting of critical values. This individual maintains excellent rapport among Laboratory staff, Physicians, Nursing Staff, and other Hospital Departments, serving as a resource for questions about chemistry test selection, specimen requirements, and result interpretation. Working closely with the Laboratory Manager and Director, the supervisor maintains Chemistry policies and procedures and ensures compliance with CAP, CLIA, and The Joint Commission.

Qualifications:

Education

Required: Bachelor's degree

 

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Required: Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor License (SU)

MLS with ASCP /AMT  or equivalent.

 

Experience/Training

Required: Five (5) years MLS experience

Preferred: Leadership experience

Training: ASCP MT or equivalent; LIS Training and or experience

 

Special Skills/Qualifications

Required: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
