    Job Summary

    The Chemistry Student Assistant will provide support to staff, faculty and department Chair. Seeking an individual who is neat and punctual for work. On a daily basis, the student will answer department telephone, check department mail inbox, typing, filing, Xeroxing, faxing, sorting mail, interoffice deliveries, posting flyers, assist with setting up with department seminars or meetings.


    • Assists faculty with scanning/printing
    • Update bulletin boards
    • Provides support with updating website
    • Maintains inventory of supplies
    • Stores supplies and keeps office supply areas orderly and clean
    • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications

    Students majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology with lab related courses taken including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and knowledge of Biochemistry. Must be familiar with general Chemistry laboratory skills. Must have good communication skills to be able to help students at the window effectively and must have some knowledge of computer skills, including knowledge of using Microsoft Word and Excel.

    Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

    Required Qualifications

    • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
    • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
    • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
    • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
