    JOB SUMMARY The General Education Adjunct Instructor teaches assigned general education coursework in our Adult Degree programs. This includes assisting in curriculum planning, including developing and implementing curriculum additions, deletions, and revisions for assigned course(s). This position requires the instructor to teach either in person, on-line or Hybrid class format. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/SKILLS/FUNCTIONS

    • Provide instruction and develop student skills for assigned courses. Place all required information on the College's learning Management System (LMS), Canvas and appropriate student information systems.
    • Meet learning outcomes and objectives as stated in the curriculum
    • Supervise student involvement in practical work assignments and projects while assisting individual students with assignments and skill development to encourage successful attainment of program standards either in-person, virtual or hybrid.
    • Regularly and consistently monitor and record student performance in classroom/on-line and/or lab settings by means of standard instruments of evaluation and submit grades as required for assigned course.
    • Actively participate in the institution's assessment and evaluation efforts, especially related to General Education courses being taught.
    • Adhere to, and promote academic policies, such as those relating to both institutional and programmatic requirements, grading and academic probation.
    • Assist in planning and coordinating the logistics for program functions, including: instruction equipment and supplies, field trips, off-campus appointments, and special presentations to the students.
    • Maintain effective communication and close cooperation with their supervisor and other faculty/staff to effectively attain the overall educational objectives of the program.
    • When possible, participate in professional development activities.
    • Attend and participate in scheduled In-Service Training Sessions.
    • Support student compliance with institutional and department policies.
    • Follow policies and procedures described in the Employee Handbook.
    • Perform other duties as may occasionally be assigned by their supervisor.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 15 semester credits in the teaching discipline (e.g. Math, English/communication, science/biology, psychology/sociology… etc.)
    • Adjuncts must be able to show a command of relevant theory and practice and contemporary knowledge, in the respective discipline.
    • Some teaching experience is preferred.
