The Chemical Technician will support the development and production of advanced battery materials for next-generation clean energy technologies. In this hands-on role, you will work closely with scientists and engineers in a laboratory environment to prepare materials, conduct experiments, operate equipment, collect data, and contribute directly to innovation in the energy storage industry. This position is ideal for someone with laboratory or manufacturing experience who is eager to build a long-term career in clean energy and advanced materials.

Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory experiments and material preparation for advanced battery materials.
• Support the synthesis and testing of advanced battery materials in a laboratory setting.
• Operate laboratory and analytical equipment in accordance with established procedures.
• Collect, document, and report experimental data with a high level of accuracy and detail.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and strictly follow established protocols and procedures.
• Assist with troubleshooting laboratory equipment and process-related issues to ensure smooth operations.
• Follow laboratory safety standards and best practices, including proper chemical handling procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory work environment.
• Work both independently and as part of a collaborative team of scientists and engineers.
• Handle and lift equipment and materials as needed to support production and experimental activities.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, chemical processing, production, or other technical environment.
• Hands-on experience working with chemicals, laboratory equipment, or material processing techniques.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and chemical handling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform precise work and identify discrepancies.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain orderly records.
• Ability to follow written procedures and standard operating protocols accurately.
• Ability to maintain accurate, complete, and timely laboratory documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to a team.
• Physical ability to lift up to 45 pounds as part of routine job duties.
• Interest in chemistry, materials science, clean energy, or advanced manufacturing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background or coursework in chemistry or materials science.
• Experience in clean energy, battery materials, or advanced manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a technical or production setting.
• Comfort working with analytical and process equipment in a laboratory or production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with scientists, engineers, and technical staff.
• Motivation to grow professionally in a rapidly expanding clean energy industry.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to cutting-edge clean energy technology and advanced materials innovation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a laboratory and technical production environment focused on advanced battery materials and clean energy technologies. The shift starts at 2:30 p.m. and follows a 5x8 schedule, providing consistent hours each week. Technicians will wear respirators for at least six hours during the shift to ensure safety while working with certain materials and processes. The position involves occasional lifting of up to approximately 40 pounds, no higher than shoulder height, typically twice per eight-hour shift, such as lifting a motor equipped with handles to facilitate safe handling. You will work alongside a collaborative team of scientists and engineers, using laboratory and analytical equipment in a clean, organized, and safety-conscious facility that emphasizes adherence to established procedures and best practices. The environment supports hands-on learning, professional growth, and direct involvement in cutting-edge clean energy and advanced materials innovation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Leandro, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
