Chemical Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Technician to assist chemists and chemical engineers in developing and testing chemical products. This role involves conducting quality assurance tests, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assessing environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures and chemical analysis, with experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track inventory, prioritize orders, maintain lab equipment, and document chemical testing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and stay updated on safety protocols from OSHA and NFPA.
  • Prepare chemical solutions, fulfill chemical orders, and store solutions safely according to temperature requirements.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to verify chemical safety and troubleshoot any issues for further assessment.
  • Compile and interpret lab test results, correcting any potential anomalies.
  • Monitor chemical processes and resolve production issues by collaborating with relevant personnel.
  • Generate and share graphical results with lab managers or senior personnel.
  • Sterilize work surfaces and equipment, replacing worn or damaged tools as needed.
  • Train new technicians in chemical processes and update their knowledge of chemical technology.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (AS) in Chemistry or a related science field with a minimum of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred.
  • Experience in a water treatment plant is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation, including calibration, maintenance, and proper analytical methods.
  • Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in deionized water production is preferred.
