Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) Technician

Earn $25–$30/hour | Four-day workweek | Up to 6 months of training

Location: Charlotte, NC
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Pay: $25–$30/hour, depending on experience

Join a long-established Charlotte crystal-growth and optical fabrication facility as a Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) Technician. You’ll help produce fluoride materials, operate furnace and processing equipment, and support engineering and R&D teams. Training is provided for up to six months.

What you’ll do

• Operate and maintain furnaces and equipment used to produce fluoride materials.

• Weigh, mix, and transfer chemicals according to established procedures.

• Handle hazardous materials, including hydrofluoric acid, potassium hydroxide, other acids and bases, and acetone.

• Follow chemical safety protocols, wear required PPE, and use Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

• Monitor equipment indicators, including valves and pressure readings, and respond to alarms.

• Maintain data logs and chemical inventory records.

• Assist with process development, troubleshooting, and improvements.

• Coordinate with engineering, R&D, and Crystal Growth teams.

What you’ll bring

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus two additional years of related experience or education.

• At least two years of experience in chemical processing or a wet lab.

• Understanding of chemical processes and a strong commitment to safety.

• The visual acuity and manual dexterity needed for the work.

Preferred: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, ideally chemistry.

The Charlotte facility has more than 40 years of experience growing solid-state oxide and fluoride crystals from high-temperature melts, with full optical fabrication capabilities. Its crystalline materials support solid-state laser systems used in medical and military applications.
