Chemical Engineer

The Chemical Engineer will receive hands-on training in fluid flow and process simulation software while supporting engineering projects for clients within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, and industrial sectors. This position combines chemical engineering, process and fluid flow simulation, field data collection, software testing, technical support, and software training.

Clayton Services is searching for a Chemical Engineer to join a growing engineering and software company in Katy, Texas. The Chemical Engineer will receive hands-on training in fluid flow and process simulation software while supporting engineering projects for clients within the refining, petrochemical, chemical, and industrial sectors.

This position combines chemical engineering, process and fluid flow simulation, field data collection, software testing, technical support, and software training.

Chemical Engineer Responsibilities:

• Develop fluid flow and process simulation models using specialized engineering software.
• Support flow modeling and process modeling studies.
• Participate in field visits to industrial facilities to collect engineering and operating data.
• Use P&IDs and PFDs to help build simulation models.
• Collect, document, and analyze field data used to develop and validate models.
• Assist with model validation and analysis.
• Support identifying and analyzing system and process issues.
• Provide technical support for engineering simulation software.
• Assist with software training for users.
• Test engineering software and provide feedback and suggestions for improvements.
• Work with engineering and software development teams on engineering projects and software applications.
• Support projects from field data collection through model development and analysis.
• Gain exposure to process simulation, fluid flow simulation, physical properties, and thermodynamics.
• Perform approximately 20% field work and 80% office-based engineering and modeling work.
• Travel to client facilities as needed.

Chemical Engineer Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interest in chemical engineering, process simulation, fluid flow modeling, and engineering software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with computers and learning technical software.
• Willingness to participate in hands-on fieldwork in industrial environments.
• Ability to work with and analyze technical and field data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to interact effectively with engineers, plant personnel, operators, and other project stakeholders.
• Motivated to learn and develop technical engineering skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a growing team.

Chemical Engineer Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
• 0 3 years of professional experience.
• Recent Chemical Engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Previous internship, co-op, or professional engineering experience is a plus.
• Previous exposure to process simulation or fluid flow simulation software is a plus but not required.
