Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Application Engineering and Technical Service teams, ensuring consistent delivery of customer-focused technical solutions.
  • Direct structured root cause investigations and laboratory testing activities to provide defensible technical recommendations.
  • Recruit, mentor, develop, and performance manage engineers while promoting rigorous scientific methods and laboratory best practices.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Quality, Product Management, and R&D to communicate findings and solution recommendations.
  • Support business development efforts through customer engagement, application design assistance, product evaluations, and validation testing.
  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for internal stakeholders, channel partners, and customers.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, competitive offerings, and market developments to strengthen technical solution strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, legal, and quality requirements while fostering a culture of technical excellence and customer service.

The Successful Applicant

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing technical teams in laboratory, applications engineering, technical service, or related environments.
  • Experience with adhesives, coatings, specialty chemicals, or advanced material technologies strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory processes, troubleshooting methodologies, testing protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, coaching, and leadership skills with a hands-on approach to problem solving and team development.
