    Department

    The Center for Health Advocacy & Wellness (CHAW) at University Health Services encourages students to make healthy lifestyle decisions that facilitate academic success and lead to life-long health and wellness. The Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness provides quality, research-based wellness services, and Health Promotion programs available to all FSU students.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides strategic leadership and direction for the Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness (CHAW), ensuring alignment with University Health Services (UHS) and Division of Student Affairs priorities.
    • Develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive, evidence-informed health promotion strategies, programs, and services.
    • Establishes departmental goals, objectives, and performance metrics; monitors progress and outcomes.
    • Plans, administers, and manages departmental operating budgets and resources.
    • Determines staffing needs; hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional staff, support staff, and student employees.
    • Provides leadership for organizational development, staff engagement, and professional development initiatives.
    • Participates as a member of the University Health Services leadership team and related university committees.
    • Directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive health promotion and prevention initiatives addressing student health and well-being.
    • Applies health behavior theory, population health frameworks, and evidence-based practices to program design and delivery.
    • Identifies emerging trends and best practices in college health; integrates innovation into program planning.
    • Advances initiatives that promote health and reduce disparities in student access and outcomes.
    • Participates in research activities, grant development, professional writing, presentations, and dissemination efforts.
    • Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, and external stakeholders.
    • Leads and participates in interdisciplinary initiatives to address student health priorities.
    • Represents CHAW and UHS on university committees, coalitions, and community partnerships.
    • Ensures visibility and effective communication of CHAW programs and services across campus.

    Qualifications

    Masters degree and four years of experience related to health and human services.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Five or more years of professional experience, including supervision of professional staff.
    • Professional experience in a college or university setting.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of health behavior theory, population health approaches, and evidence-based prevention strategies.
    • Experience in program planning, assessment, and evaluation using data-informed approaches.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.
    • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
