    Description

    Summary & Objective

    The Nurse, Charge assists in for the operation of the nursing unit over a specific time period. They are responsible for maintaining a high level of patient care and acting as an educational resource for nurses.

    Knowledge & Experience Requirements

    • Clear and Active Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license to practice in the state of Florida
    • CPR certification
    • 1-3 years of experience in a Health Care Facility
    • Must have knowledge of computer office/clinical software
    • Must be able to read, write and understand the English language

    Essential Functions

    • Communicating with physicians on a patient and/or resident's progress and reporting special circumstances
    • Assists in patient and/or resident chart audits for accuracy on orders.
    • Makes rounds to unit during assigned shift.
    • Coordinates unit huddle meeting.
    • Provides education to nursing staff on areas found non-compliant
    • Provides patient and/or resident care utilizing the nursing process and in compliance with facility nursing policies and procedures.
    • Conducts an individualized patient and/or resident evaluation and evaluates the total needs of the patient and/or resident, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient and/or resident's immediate condition or needs within 24 hours of admission.
    • Assists in developing plan of care that is individualized for the patient and/or resident reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
    • Ensure supplies, medications and equipment is properly stored.
    • Answers call lights within appropriate established timeframe.

    Other Duties

    • Administers medications and treatments according to nursing policies and procedures.
    • Provide orientation on a regular basis to new employees.
    • Attends and participates in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings as required.
    • Reports patient and/or resident's condition to appropriate personnel during each shift.
    • Floats to other units as assigned to meet patient and/or resident's care needs.
    • Maintain your required licenses, certifications and mandatory skill updates.
    • Comply with all policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations.
    • Provide other duties of healthcare team member
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibility

    • May serve as an interim department leader depending on need
