Position Purpose: Review Medical Record chart, including nursing notes,progress notes, and surgical or specialty notes thoroughly to interpret and validate and/or extract all charges. Competent with coding ICD10 and CPT. Resolve clinical documentation and charge capture discrepancies, providing feedback to providers on the quality of their documentation. Perform validation of potential missing charges, coding variances and overcharges Conducts thorough review of medical records and utilizes coding resources to ensure that clinical documentation supports all billed charges. Communicates effectively with team, compliance, departments and clinical staff. General Job Requirements Health Information Management or a related field required. Minimum of 1 year of relevant work in healthcare. Successful completion of a Coding Specialist program with eligibility to sit for credentials examination Familiar with revenue cycle operations and/or clinical operations, is preferred.
