    Job Summary

    The Allied Health Department Chair has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, management and day to day operations of the Allied Health Department. This is a full-time position that reports to the LSCPA's Allied Health Department.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Manage the curriculum through development, implementation and evaluation
    • Update program documents, publications, website, and other media used for communication annually
    • Manage advisory committees for technical programs within the department
    • Provide quality instruction and advising for students
    • Manage department budgets and resources efficiently and effectively
    • Maintain program accreditations within the department in accordance with agency requirements.
    • Recruit students and faculty for all programs within the department
    • Manage faculty and staff to include quality instruction, professional development, evaluation, teamwork and other areas as identified
    • Develop and implement an efficient and effective class schedule for the department.
    • Provide service to the college and community
    • Facilitate and participate in assessment of courses, programs and department
    • Establish effective working relationships with college and community partners including clinical affiliations
    • Keep the Dean of Educational Programs informed on a regular basis of all actual or potential problems, concerns, or issues related to the Allied Health Department faculty, staff, students and community partners which may affect the wellbeing or interests of the Department or those of the College
    • Support the directors of all professional allied health programs in all phases, including approval of teaching staff, selection of appropriate clinical sites, admission, progression, probation, dismissal of students, and enforcement of student policies
    • Maintain an up to date Nursing Faculty Handbook
    • Maintain a plan for faculty development to encourage and assist faculty members to meet the program's needs as well as individual faculty members' professional development needs
    • Maintain program accreditation in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing
    • Comply with campus policies and procedures
    • Other related duties, as assigned

    Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in an Allied Health field from a regionally accredited college or university
    • Three (3) years of full-time experience teaching within an allied health education program at the college level
    • Valid driver's license

    Supplemental Information

    Physical Requirements:

    Travel:

    Occasional travel required.

    Work Hours:

    Monday - Friday; 40 hours per week. Occasional evenings and weekends.
