    Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

    Location: Remote/ Preferably in the DC metro area
    Our client is a growing government contracting firm delivering mission-critical solutions to federal agencies. With a strong pipeline and expanding portfolio, we are seeking a strategic Chief Financial Officer to help scale our operations, strengthen financial rigor, and position the company for its next phase of growth.

    Position Overview
    The CFO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for the overall financial strategy, reporting, compliance, and capital structure of the company. This role requires a leader with experience, deep knowledge of government contracting, (preferably) and a track record of driving operational and financial excellence in complex, regulated environments.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Lead all aspects of financial management, including accounting, FP&A, treasury, tax, audit, and compliance
    • Oversee financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and ensure readiness for public company standards (SEC reporting, internal controls, etc.)
    • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, providing insights on growth, profitability, and risk management
    • Ensure compliance with government contract regulations, including FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements
    • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes
    • Lead cash management, capital allocation, and financing strategy (debt/equity)
    • Establish and maintain strong internal controls and scalable financial systems
    • Support M&A activities, including due diligence and integration
    • Manage relationships with auditors, investors, banks, and government agencies
    • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA and/or CPA strongly preferred)
    • 10 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or senior finance executive role
    • Public company experience required (SEC reporting, SOX compliance, investor relations exposure)
    • Strong background in government contracting (FAR, CAS, DCAA audits, cost accounting)
    • Demonstrated success scaling financial operations in a growth-oriented environment
    • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
    • Exceptional leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills

    Preferred Experience
    • Experience with IPO readiness or taking a company public
    • Background in private equity-backed or high-growth environments
    • Familiarity with contract types (FFP, CPFF, T&M) and project-based accounting
