Our client is a leading structural steel fabricator looking for a CWI to join their team in Nashville, NC. This role supports the Quality Control Supervisor by inspecting raw materials, in-process fabrication, and finished products to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. The position requires strong knowledge of welding, bolting, coatings, and structural fabrication standards. The technician will document inspections, maintain certifications, and support internal and external audit activities.

Job Responsibilities -

- Interpret drawings, codes, and specifications used for structural steel projects.

- Check incoming materials and verify they meet required standards and certifications.

- Conduct weld visual inspections and review bolting, coating, and surface prep quality.

-Maintain organized inspection records and complete all QC documentation.

- Determine testing needs for welds, materials, and coatings, and coordinate as needed.

- Communicate with external inspectors and support NDE activities.

- Keep inspection tools calibrated and ready for use.

- Help troubleshoot quality issues throughout fabrication or field operations.

- Support creation of process improvements and monthly quality reporting.




Job Requirements -

-GED or high school diploma required.

- Three or more years of hands-on steel fabrication experience, or equivalent education and industry background.

- Active AWS Certified Welding Inspector credential.

- Proficient in reviewing shop drawings and fabrication details.

- Knowledgeable in AWS D1.1/D1.3 standards and how to apply them in the shop.

- Comfortable collaborating with welders, supervisors, and leadership teams.

- Able to carry out and record inspection tasks during structural fabrication and welding.
