Full-Time Certified Veterinary Technician

Putnam Veterinary Clinic | Shrewsbury, MA

$24 - $27/hour

Are you a Certified Veterinary Technician looking for a hospital where you can use your skills, work with a diverse caseload, and continue growing clinically? Putnam Veterinary Clinic is looking for a full-time CVT to join our established small-animal practice!

Putnam is an AAHA-accredited, full-service general practice providing comprehensive medical, surgical, dental, and diagnostic care for dogs and cats. With multiple doctors and a broad range of services, you'll have the opportunity to play an important role in patient care and utilize your technical skills every day.

What You'll Do

  • Provide high-quality nursing care for dogs and cats
  • Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters
  • Perform and evaluate ear cytologies
  • Administer medications and treatments
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with surgical procedures
  • Prepare patients for surgery and provide post-operative care
  • Assist with dental procedures and dental surgery
  • Obtain and process laboratory samples
  • Assist with diagnostic imaging and advanced medical workups
  • Educate clients about core vs. lifestyle vaccines and preventatives
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide appropriate treatments
  • Maintain accurate medical records
  • Collaborate closely with doctors and the veterinary team to provide exceptional patient care

What We're Looking For

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • Proficient with patient restraint and handling
  • Proficient with venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Proficient in reading ear cytologies
  • Comfortable administering medications and treatments
  • Able to confidently discuss core vs. lifestyle vaccines and preventatives with clients
  • Strong anesthesia and patient-monitoring skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care

  • Utilize Your Full Skillset: You'll be a vital part of the medical team, providing comprehensive patient care, including administering treatments, monitoring anesthesia, and performing lab work.

  • Partner with Clients: You'll be a key point of contact for pet owners, educating them on treatments, reviewing medical records, and confidently answering their questions.
  • Contribute to a Positive Culture: You'll play an active role in training, providing feedback, and maintaining the high standards of our hospital environment.

What You'll Bring to the Team

  • Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
  • A current state veterinary technician license in good standing.
  • Proficiency in a range of technical skills, including nursing, surgery, dental care, radiology, and laboratory procedures.
  • A calm and efficient approach, especially in fast-paced or stressful situations.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively.
  • One year of experience in the veterinary industry is preferred.
