Our client is seeking a skilled
Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant to support surgeons during
operations and assist with preoperative and postoperative patient care. This
role requires strong surgical knowledge, manual dexterity, and the ability to
work well under pressure in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and prepare surgical plans and patient
history pre-operatively
- Prepare the surgical field and assist in patient
positioning and prepping
- Ensure availability and sterility of surgical
instruments and supplies
- Assist in draping the surgical site
- Communicate the surgical plan with the RN and certified
surgical tech
- Provide exposure of the operating site using
retractors and tools intraoperatively
- Control bleeding by clamping, ligating, or
cauterizing blood vessels
- Handle tissues, cut sutures, and perform wound
closure
- Suction, irrigate, or sponge the operative site
as needed
- Assist with robotic, laparoscopic, and minimally
invasive procedures
- Monitor patient vital signs under the surgeon's
or anesthesiologist's direction
- Apply surgical dressings and assist with the patient's transfer to recovery post-operatively
- Ensure all instruments and materials are
accounted for
- Document operative procedures and observations
accurately
- Participate in postoperative patient assessments
and wound care
Schedule and Shift Details
· Work shifts from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM with
on-call availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- Associate degree or higher
- Perioperative/Surgical Services (2+ years)
- ANY of the following valid
licenses/certifications:
- CRNFA in New York (NY)
- Nurse Practitioner (NP) in New York (NY)
- Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in New York
(NY)
- National Commission on Certification of Physician
Assistants (NCCPA)
