Description

Our Tomlinson South Meridian YMCA is in need of Certified Personal Trainers to join the team! This role is responsible for managing and developing health and well-being programs for individual clients or small groups.

The South Meridian Branch of the Treasure Valley YMCA is unlike any other in the country. Our 60,000-square-foot facility is part of a unique collaboration that combines family recreation, education, sports, literacy, and wellness care on a single campus called "The Hill." Hand in hand with our partners-St. Luke's Health System, the West Ada School District, and the City of Meridian-the South Meridian Family Y will help us build A BETTER US.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 4-8 hours weekly. Personal trainers work a varied schedule that flexes around member needs. A typical week includes a mix of early mornings, daytime availability, and some evening hours, as well as occasional weekend sessions. Because sessions are member-driven, trainer schedules are not fixed but instead adjust seasonally and week-to-week to support client demand. Pay: $20.30/hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop intentional relationships and, using the Y voice attributes, engage members to deepen their relationship to the Y Cause.
  • Actively use Listen First skills to determine realistic and appropriate goals that improve the health and wellbeing of participants.
  • Use member engagement skills to achieve individual enrollment goals and respond to requests within 24 hours.
  • Conduct personal training sessions in an inclusive, fun, innovative, and safe manner with the scope of practice that results in participants achieving the two Cause Measurement goals.
  • Record all required information to ensure accurate billing and tracking.
  • Conducts and organizes personal training sessions for individuals or groups.
  • Builds specific programs for individuals or groups based on the intake interview and ongoing evaluation.
  • Actively listens to members, makes suggestions, and follows up to help support members' in reaching their fitness goals.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Required Certifications:

  • Personal Trainer Certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, NSCA, or NFPT). Prerequisite upon hire.
  • CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire - 14-day compliance period
