    Description

    Gateway Behavioral Health Services is seeking a certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team. The Certified Peer Specialist is a member of a multidisciplinary treatment team responsible for ensuring the incorporation of psychosocial and environmental needs in the treatment process. The Certified Peer Specialist offers support to clients and identifies themselves as peers of mental health services.

    • Position may be Part-Time or Full-Time.
    • Flexible non-traditional work hours to coincide with program needs.

    Responsibilities & Duties:

    • Assist peers in identifying and prioritizing needs, as well as articulating personal goals and objectives for recovery as part of their individual service plans.
    • Assist peers in accessing needed services; Inform peers about community and natural supports available to them.
    • Assist peers in securing employment, housing as well as helping them understand benefits with a new job.
    • Help peers build social skills.
    • Support peers in overcoming job-related anxiety.
    • Display a professional attitude and possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with peers, families, and staff from a variety of cultures and social backgrounds. Requirements
    • Peer Support Specialist Certification (Through MS Dept of Mental Health)
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • Reliable transportation
    • Two (2) years’ work experience in the mental health field
    • A willingness to continue your education to enhance skills relevant to the position
    • Ability to pass required background clearances & screenings
