Certified Peer Recovery Specialist

As an advocate for patients, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialistwill be responsible for providing essential expertise and consultation to theentire multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a culture in which eachindividual's treatment needs and preferences are recognized, understood,respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. Operating in over 70 treatment centers in multiple states, our team membersare engaged in medication-assisted treatment, counseling, support, and caremanagement of individuals living with OUD. We treat the whole person and,in so doing, address the underlying causes of OUD in an effort to provide acontinuum of care that not only addresses treatment needs but supports thepatient on their journey to recovery.

Job Summary:

Provides individual, group, and family counseling to patients as required.Collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of MedicalDirector, Program Director, Treatment Services Coordinator, Counselors andNurses to identify and meet the clinical needs of the patient and to assist intheir overall well-being.

Essential Functions:

The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) will provide direct peer-to-peersupport services to individuals who have substance abuse or co-occurringdisorders. As an advocate for patients, the Certified Peer Recovery Specialistwill be responsible for providing essential expertise and consultation to theentire multidisciplinary treatment team to promote a culture in which eachindividual's treatment needs and preferences are recognized, understood,respected and integrated into treatment, rehabilitation, and community self-help activities. The Certified Peer Recovery Specialist will draw from his/herown journey of recovery to inspire hope and provide support to others whoare facing similar situations..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists patients in developing problem-solving skills to respond tochallenging experiences in their recovery
• Models effective coping and self-help strategies and techniques toindividuals or groups of patients to overcome personal fears, anxieties,urges, and triggers
• Assists/supports patients in daily decision making, resolution of minorproblems, and crisis intervention as necessary
• Assists patients in identifying their personal goals and objectives for
  recovery and sobriety
• Assists clinic staff in a collaborative process of identifying programs
  and environments that are conducive to recovery
• Assists patients in creating their personal recovery plans
  Meets with patients to provide advice and support in accordance with
  treatment plans
• Assists/coordinates patient support groups on a regular basis
  Assists patients in obtaining and utilizing clinic based and community
  based services that support individual recovery needs
• Assists patients by identifying community resources and encouraging
  participation, to engage in healthy social activities, employment
  opportunities or provide other assistance as needed
• Observes behaviors and evidence of general well-being and discusses
  observations with the patient
• Assists patients in developing empowerment skills through selfadvocacy
• Ensures timely and appropriate documentation as required by company,
  state, and federal policy

Education/Licensure/Certification:

Peer Support Certification - state specific or national

A minimum of High School Diploma or GED

Required Knowledge:

• Entry-level knowledge. Must complete any continuing education offered by the state Credentialing Board to allow the Peer Specialist to maintain certification. 
• Must be computer literateand have basic knowledge of all Google products.
• Additional training in behavioral intervention, CPR, First Aid and HumanRights will be provided by the company.

Experience Required:

• Self identify as a present or former primary consumerin substance abuse recovery or of mental health services.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have at least 2 years experience working with Adult MH/SA disorders.
• Pass background check or request an exception to the findings.
• Complete a State approved training program and pass a standardizedexamination.

Skill and Ability:

Must possess excellent interpersonal and communicationskills, be able
to multitask, prioritize, be dependable and reliable.

Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to observe patients andwork on computer. Clear vision at 20 inches or less and distant vision at 20feet or more.

Physical Strength:
Sedentary work; sitting much of the time. Ability to liftup to 10 pounds. Movement such as standing, walking and occasionalbending or reaching is required. Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally.
