    This position will own full-cycle payroll processing while ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements, federal and state regulations, and company policies.

    Certified Payroll Professional Responsibilities



    • Manage full-cycle payroll processing for union and non-union employees

    • Interpret and apply multiple collective bargaining agreements

    • Ensure accurate calculation of union wages, shift differentials, overtime, premiums, and retroactive pay

    • Administer union deductions, dues, benefit contributions, and employer-paid fringe benefits

    • Prepare and submit union reports and remittances within required deadlines

    • Maintain employee payroll records, tax elections, deductions, garnishments, and direct-deposit information

    • Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, expense reimbursements, and off-cycle payments

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage-and-hour regulations

    • Support prevailing-wage and certified-payroll reporting when applicable

    • Reconcile payroll registers, benefit deductions, payroll liabilities, and general ledger accounts

    • Prepare payroll journal entries and support month-end and year-end close

    • Manage quarterly and annual payroll reporting, including Forms W-2 and related tax filings

    • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee questions

    • Coordinate with union representatives regarding payroll, benefit, and contribution issues

    • Partner with Human Resources on employee changes, benefits, leave, and terminations

    • Support payroll audits, union audits, workers’ compensation audits, and compliance reviews

    • Maintain accurate documentation and strong internal controls

    • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve system accuracy



    Certified Payroll Professional Qualifications



    • Certified Payroll Professional designation required or strongly preferred

    • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience

    • Significant union payroll experience required

    • Experience interpreting collective bargaining agreements

    • Strong understanding of union deductions, benefit contributions, wage rates, and reporting requirements

    • Multi-state and high-volume payroll experience preferred

    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations

    • Experience with prevailing-wage or certified-payroll reporting is a plus

    • Strong payroll-system and Microsoft Excel skills

    • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities

    • High level of discretion when handling confidential employee information

    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
