Job Summary and Qualifications

Provides treatment to patients across the life span (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) according to a current written treatment plan formulated by the Licensed Occupational Therapist within the scope of their licensure with the state of Texas and according to Tomball’s Occupational Therapy Standards. 

What you will do in this role:

  • Treats patients across the life span with a variety of diagnoses according to a current written treatment plan.
  • Develops methods to achieve identified goals set by the occupational therapist.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team to achieve patient goals.
  • Educates the patient regarding activities of daily living and lifestyle modifications as it relates to their illness/disease symptoms, to prevent additional problems/symptoms.
  • Participates in and contributes to quality improvement processes for the department.
  • Delegates and supervises treatment appropriately to occupational therapy aids and other support personnel.
  • Documents care and skills performed in the patient’s medical record and responsibly records and submits charges for occupational therapy services rendered.
  • 6. Maintains or exceeds department’s standard for productivity based on procedures/hour. Works as efficiently and effectively as possible in order to help meet the department’s productivity standards while still providing quality patient care.
  • Assist in orienting new employees as needed.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge to utilize required computer software in order to perform job responsibilities and uses computer equipment/software for business purposes only.
  • Attends Departmental meetings and Hospital Town Halls to remain informed on the issues and positively contribute to the direction of the hospital. Will maintain a 50% attendance rate at these meetings.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Associate Degree from an accredited OTA program is required
  • (COTA) Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant also licensed in the state of Texas required
  • A minimum of 1-2 years experience in an Inpatient Rehab setting preferred, new grads will be considered
  • Must be able to work weekdays with rotating weekends and holidays
