TX-STAR Speech Language Services partners with school districts throughout Texas to provide specialized support for students with developmental, sensory, and functional needs. We are currently seeking Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants for school-based opportunities in Houston and surrounding communities.
These positions are ideal for professionals who enjoy helping students strengthen the practical skills needed for greater independence, classroom participation, and success throughout the school day.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a school-based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will provide occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
In this role, you will:
Carry out occupational therapy interventions that support goals established in students’ Individualized Education Programs
Help students improve fine motor coordination, sensory processing, self-care, and other functional abilities
Deliver in-person therapy services in individual or small-group settings
Collect data and assist with documenting student participation, performance, and progress
Coordinate regularly with the supervising Occupational Therapist regarding treatment plans and student needs
Collaborate with teachers, campus staff, families, and other members of the educational team
Help students participate more independently in classroom activities, routines, and school environments
Prepare therapy equipment, instructional resources, and materials for scheduled sessions
Maintain organized service records and complete required documentation accurately and on time
Follow supervision requirements, district procedures, and applicable professional and compliance standards
Qualifications for This Position
Current and active Texas license as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Ability to provide services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills
Ability to work effectively with students, educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Previous experience serving pediatric or school-based populations is preferred
