    Position Overview

    Uvalde Healthcare & Rehab is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to join our rehabilitation team in both full-time and per diem capacities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping patients improve their ability to perform daily activities, enhance functional independence, and achieve meaningful rehabilitation goals.

    The COTA will provide occupational therapy treatments and interventions under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, while working closely with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.

    Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Responsibilities

    • Provide occupational therapy treatments and interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
    • Assist in implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, strength, coordination, cognition, and overall independence
    • Instruct patients in therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and the use of assistive devices
    • Monitor patient progress and communicate updates, concerns, and recommendations to the supervising Occupational Therapist
    • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards
    • Collaborate with nursing staff, therapists, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members to support optimal patient outcomes
    • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy programs, safety techniques, and strategies to maximize independence
    • Ensure a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for all patients

    Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Qualifications

    • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program
    • Current Texas Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license in good standing (or eligibility)
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
    • Ability to work effectively under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, or outpatient settings preferred
    • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
