About the Role

Capitol Academy and Capitol Elementary are respected Non-Public Schools (NPS) serving students with diverse learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our collaborative, student-centered team. As a School-Based Occupational Therapist Assistant, you will help students develop the skills they need to participate successfully in school and everyday activities.  As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to implement individualized treatment plans. You will help students build fine motor, sensory, self-help, and functional skills while collaborating with educators and documenting student progress.

What You will Do

  • Implement occupational therapy interventions as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Support students in developing fine motor, sensory regulation, and functional skills.
  • Document therapy sessions, student progress, and treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to reinforce therapeutic strategies in the classroom.
  • Assist with preparing therapy materials, equipment, and learning environments.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Associates degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current California Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience working with children or in a school-based setting preferred
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience supporting students with autism and other developmental differences - preferred
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
