    Description

    Qualifications:

    1. Must be a graduate of an 80-120 hour nursing assistant course and registered to practice in the state of Wisconsin as a Certified Nursing Assistant
    2. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
    3. Ability to think and work independently and with direction
    4. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
    5. Must have no lifting or bending restrictions
    6. Previous experience in a health care facility is desired
    7. Good communication skills and bedside manner with a compassionate personality
    8. Willingness to work with all team players
    9. Must have an acceptable criminal background check

    Reports To:

    The Certified Nursing Assistant is directly responsible to the Charge Nurse or Shift Supervisor.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Provides non-professional routine nursing care to the residents of Christian Community Homes and Services in accordance with the facility and state/federal guidelines

    Specific Job Duties:

    1. Must be flexible in work assignments, and especially during a staffing emergency willing to work in other areas if needed
    2. Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned and plan/prioritize actions before starting resident cares
    3. Demonstrates ability to obtain pertinent information regarding residents
    4. Performs procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail care
    5. Demonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residents
    6. Implements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, and turning/positioning techniques
    7. Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructed
    8. Assists with resident admissions, discharges, and room transfers as appropriate
    9. Assists and encourages residents to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplements
    10. Recognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residents
    11. Identifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staff
    12. Allows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possible
    13. Follows the resident plan of care
    14. Ensures resident rights are maintained at all times
    15. Reports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediately
    16. Participates in establishing and updating resident care plans and aide care sheets
    17. Encourages residents to participate in self care as appropriate
    18. Assists residents with the application of prosthetics
    19. Performs vital signs and obtains resident heights and weights per schedule
    20. Provides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needs
    21. Cleans and sanitizes client areas, including changing bed sheets
    22. Demonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
    23. Demonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safety
    24. Demonstrates proper infection control procedures and practices
    25. Complies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agencies
    26. Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments
    27. Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships
    28. Participates in giving and receiving report from the nurses
    29. Attends scheduled training seminars, meetings, and in services as appropriate
    30. Follows work assignments and/or work schedules as assigned
    31. Practices good personal hygiene and facility dress code
    32. Assumes added duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or shift supervisor
    33. Stays up-to-date on CNA training, policies and procedures

     

    Physical Requirements

    Must be able to:

    1. Stand and walk for long periods of time
    2. Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, and reach with hands and arms
    3. Manually lift 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

    Pay: $20-$27 per hour, depending on years of experience. PM Shift Differential: $3 per hour.
