    Position Summary

    The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care to Veterans in an inpatient and long-term care setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring patient conditions, documenting care, and supporting a safe, high-quality healthcare environment.

    Essential Duties

    • Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, feeding, and linen changes.

    • Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, lifting, repositioning, and mobility.

    • Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, intake/output, oxygen saturation, and specimen collection as directed.

    • Observe patients, report changes in physical or mental condition, and respond appropriately to emergencies.

    • Accurately document care provided in accordance with VA policies and electronic medical record requirements.

    • Maintain patient privacy, confidentiality, infection control, and safety standards.

    • Perform other patient care duties as assigned within the CNA scope of practice.
