Pay Range: $23.03 - $34.59 per hour

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $23.03 - $34.59. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

What You'll Do

As a Certified Nursing Assistant on our Cardiology unit, you'll help patients feel safe, supported, and cared for throughout their hospital stay while working under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of your certification and training.
  • Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, meals, and hydration.
  • Help patients safely walk, exercise, reposition, and move in and out of bed.
  • Take and document vital signs.
  • Measure and record fluid intake and output.
  • Assist with treatments and dressing applications as directed by nursing staff.
  • Observe patients and promptly report changes in condition or symptoms.
  • Accurately document patient care activities.
  • Keep patient rooms and supply areas stocked and organized.
  • Provide occasional unit support, including answering phones, order entry, and chart-related tasks.
  • Create a positive and compassionate experience for patients and families.

Experienced CNAs are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with at least one year of acute care experience and a demonstrated ability to work independently in a hospital environment will receive special consideration.

Qualifications

Required

  • Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire (must be obtained through American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Demonstrated ability to apply age-specific care and developmental principles to meet patient needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred

  • At least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements

  • Patient handling up to 35 lbs. without assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Frequent pushing and pulling of up to 45 lbs. force (e.g., medical carts, WOWs).
  • Ability to perform CPR for extended periods when required.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, and kneeling.
  • Frequent use of fine motor skills to operate medical equipment and perform patient care tasks.
  • Occasional lifting of non-patient items up to 20 lbs.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazards, body fluids, and airborne particles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy, sometimes noisy, healthcare environment.

Mental / Visual Requirements

  • Vision and hearing within normal limits (corrective devices permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
