Certified Medical Assistant with Current Phlebotomy Skills | $35–$40/hr

Location: San Francisco, CA 94105.
Pay: $35–$40 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
Employment Type: W-2 | Choose either part-time or PRN based on your scheduling preference.
Hours: Weekdays, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
Schedule: Select a consistent part-time schedule of 1–2 weekdays per week or flexible PRN coverage based on your availability. Additional shifts may be offered as clinic needs arise.

About the Opportunity

An onsite employee health center located within the San Francisco offices of a leading financial services firm is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant with strong, current phlebotomy skills.

In this position, you will support patient care, specimen collection, clinical documentation, referrals, and daily clinic operations. The role is well suited for someone who values an organized workplace, attentive patient interactions, and greater control over their weekly schedule.

The clinic provides employees with convenient access to wellness visits, preventive services, vaccinations, health screenings, minor illness care, and follow-up coordination.

Candidates holding an active California CPT credential may also be considered if they have the appropriate documented Medical Assistant training and demonstrated competency required for the clinical duties assigned to this role, including vaccine administration when applicable.

What You Will Do

• Welcome patients and create a professional, supportive experience.
• Complete patient intake, obtain vital signs, and document initial concerns.
• Prepare patients for evaluation by the clinical provider.
• Perform venipuncture and collect blood, urine, and other specimens.
• Conduct point-of-care testing and accurately record results.
• Administer vaccines when qualified to do so under applicable California Medical Assistant training, competency, authorization, and supervision requirements.
• Coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and care instructions.
• Contact insurance carriers when coverage verification is required.
• Upload laboratory results and supporting documentation into the EMR.
• Support daily clinic readiness by maintaining organized exam rooms, supplies, and clinical work areas.
• Follow established clinic workflows, patient privacy, infection-control, and safety procedures.
• Escalate clinical questions, patient-safety concerns, and matters outside Medical Assistant scope to the appropriate licensed clinician.

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant credential such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, another recognized Medical Assistant certification, or appropriate Medical Assistant education/training and demonstrated competency in accordance with California requirements and employer policy.
• Candidates holding an active California CPT credential may also be considered if they have documentation demonstrating completion of the applicable California-required injection training and competency for vaccine administration, including required didactic and supervised hands-on injection training.
• Vaccine administration will only be performed under appropriate written authorization and required supervision in accordance with California law.
• An active, unrestricted California LVN license may also be accepted.
• Current and regular hands-on phlebotomy experience.
• Ability to perform venipuncture confidently and independently.
• Active BLS (CPR) certification.
• Experience in an outpatient clinic, medical office, employee health center, or comparable patient-care setting.
• Experience with patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, EKGs, referrals, and routine ambulatory clinical support.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and standard clinical workflows.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records.
• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
• Professional demeanor and excellent bedside manner.
• Ability to work independently onsite and escalate issues appropriately.
• Reliable ability to commute to downtown San Francisco.

Recent venipuncture experience is an essential qualification. Candidates who have not performed blood draws recently or cannot complete them independently will not be considered.

Vaccine administration is a required clinical responsibility for this position. Candidates must be able to provide documentation supporting the applicable injection training and demonstrated hands-on competency required under California requirements.

Experience with patient scheduling, referral coordination, insurance verification, or medical front-office responsibilities is a plus.
