Novant Health Family Medicine is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team!

Location: Supporting both UNCW Athletics Sports Medicine and Family Medicine Musculoskeletal Clinic

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, no weekends or holidays.

What You'll Do

• Enable the Physician and APP to practice at the top of their licenses, improving clinical efficiency and patient throughput.
• Provides critical clinical support, care coordination, documentation, patient communication, and workflow management across both practice settings.
• Enhances patient access, operational performance, and the overall patient experience for sports medicine and musculoskeletal services.
• Establishes the clinical infrastructure necessary for successful implementation and long-term sustainability of the partnership.
• Build meaningful connections with patients and support their healthcare journey.
• Perform venipuncture, specimen collection, and other clinical laboratory responsibilities.
• Maintain accurate patient records, referrals, and EMR documentation.
• Support front-office operations including scheduling, registration, and insurance verification.
• Reinforce patient education and care plans to promote positive health outcomes.
• Collaborate with a supportive, team-oriented healthcare environment focused on excellence.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

• Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.

• Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.

• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.

• Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
