HireCall is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a busy medical practice in Tulsa. This position provides both clinical and administrative support to healthcare providers while helping ensure patients receive professional, efficient, and compassionate care.
The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
- Room and triage patients, including obtaining and documenting vital signs and patient history
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for provider visits
- Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures
- Administer injections as directed and complete required documentation
- Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed
- Prepare laboratory requisitions and verify specimens are properly identified
- Enter appropriate laboratory orders and information into the EMR
- Assist with lab results and follow up on outstanding results
- Maintain, clean, and prepare medical instruments and equipment
- Clean, stock, and prepare exam and procedure rooms
- Follow infection-control, biohazard, safety, and HIPAA procedures
Administrative Support
- Respond to patient inquiries and telephone calls professionally
- Assist with prescription refill requests, lab results, and other provider-directed communications
- Thoroughly document patient telephone encounters
- Enter laboratory orders and results into the EMR accurately and promptly
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as needed
- Maintain accurate electronic and physical patient records
- Communicate with providers regarding patient questions or concerns requiring clinical review
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program OR at least 5 years of relevant experience
- National registration or certification as a Medical Assistant
- Previous medical office or clinical experience preferred
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Comfortable administering injections and assisting with clinical procedures
- Basic computer and typing skills
- Ability to learn and navigate electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication and patient-service skills
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements
- Ability to remain professional and composed in a busy clinical environment
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, and other physical activity associated with a medical office. Candidates must be able to lift, carry, or maneuver up to 25 lbs. as needed.
Occasional work beyond the regularly scheduled shift may be required based on patient and business needs.
