Certified Medical Assistant - Palliative Care

Novant Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support our Palliative Care Team. The CMA will coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population.

• Conduct in-home patient visits (Travel to patient homes is required)

• Manage an average daily caseload of 4–5 patients

• Take and document vital signs during visits

• Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary treatment team

• Provide coverage for team members’ PTO as needed

• Support clinic or team needs when no patient appointments are scheduled

• Mileage reimbursement provided

• Education

  • High School Diploma or GED – Required

  • Medical Assistant Certification – Required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire

    • Candidates must provide proof of current certification from one of the following approved registries:

      • CMA – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

      • CCMA – National Health Career Association (NHA)

      • RMA – American Medical Technologists (AMT)

      • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)

      • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

      • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

      • American Allied Health (AAH)

      • RMA – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)

  • If not currently certified, the candidate must:

    • Obtain certification or registration by the end of the 6th month of hire

    • Sign an education agreement

  Experience

  • Previous medical office experience – Preferred

  • Refer to Life Support Training Policy NH-HR-3096

  ---

  Licensure / Certification

  • Current CMA, RMA, or CCMA certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire – Required

  • Life Support Training per NH-HR-3096 – Required

  • Current State Driver’s License – Required (Palliative Care roles only)
