Documentation: Ensures all routine, daily, monthly, and annual maintenance and QC are performed, documented and kept for the appropriate number of years.

Novant Health's Pinnacle Orthopedics Salisbury is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant. The CMA will coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population. Perform and document necessary preliminary exam needs on patient to include: height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Ensure patient chart is complete. Interview patient to identify current medical needs and relevant patient history. Assist with examinations, treatments, special tests and procedures within scope of practice. Administer medication as ordered by the clinician.

What We're Looking For:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.

If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
• Experience: Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required. Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required.
• Additional skills required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.

What You'll Do:

• Perform and document preliminary patient assessments, including height, weight, pulse, blood pressure, and temperature.
• Review and prepare patient charts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Interview patients to gather medical history and identify current healthcare needs.
• Assist providers with examinations, treatments, procedures, and diagnostic testing within scope of practice.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and injections as ordered by the provider.
• The team member understands and follows HIPAA guidelines and ensures the confidentiality of patient results. 
• Ensures all test results, in-house and referred, are reported to the clinician by checking a manifest or providing oversight of pending labs. The team member documents or assists in documentation or corrective action needed for Quality assessment, Proficiency Testing and Quality Control. Documentation: Ensures all routine, daily, monthly, and annual maintenance and QC are performed, documented and kept for the appropriate number of years.
