Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) provides direct clinical and administrative support in an outpatient/physician office setting. The CMA is responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, documenting patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR), administering injections and immunizations, assisting with procedures, performing point-of-care testing (POCT), managing referrals and prescriptions, and maintaining accurate patient records. Epic EMR experience is preferred. Experience with procedural support, scope/probe reprocessing, sterilization, and autoclave procedures is highly desirable.

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, reason for visit, and symptoms, including frequency and severity.
• Accurately document patient information in the EMR/Epic system.
• Administer injections and immunizations as ordered by providers.
• Assist providers with medical examinations and procedures.
• Obtain and document all required patient information for regulatory compliance.
• Perform point-of-care testing (POCT) and required quality controls.
• Monitor and track laboratory and diagnostic test results.
• Manage patient requests through EMR task lists.
• Assist with prescription management, lab results, and referrals.
• Provide patients with accurate information and respond professionally to questions and concerns.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
• Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.
• Clean and disinfect examination rooms and patient areas between visits.
• Assist with clinic maintenance, supply ordering, and inventory management.
• Perform scope and/or probe reprocessing after completing required competency.
• Perform sterilization procedures and operate autoclave equipment as required.
• Follow OSHA, infection-control, and workplace safety regulations.
• Remain calm and effective during emergencies and high-pressure situations.
• Collaborate with providers and other healthcare team members.
• Work at multiple clinic locations when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
