    To coordinate and assist the provider to ensure safe quality/cost effective service and care for the people within the practice population.

    What We're Looking For:

    Education:  High School or GED, required.  Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including: • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA) • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT) • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA) • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP) • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA). If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.

    Experience:  Previous work in a medical office, preferred.

    Licensure/Certification:

    Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required

    Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required

    Additional Skills/Requirements (required):  Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.

     

    What You'll Do:
    • Provides direct patient care, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, reviewing medical history, preparing patients for examinations, and assisting with treatments and procedures within scope of practice.
    • Performs clinical laboratory duties, including specimen collection, venipuncture, point-of-care testing, quality control, documentation, and communication of results.
    • Administers medications and immunizations as ordered by the clinician and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
    • Maintains accurate patient information and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including referrals, lab requests, procedures, and other required clinical data.
    • Provides patient education and reinforces clinician instructions regarding treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and self-care management.
    • Supports registration, scheduling, check-out, insurance verification, payment collection, and other front-office functions as needed.
    • Collaborates with clinicians and team members to provide safe, efficient, high-quality patient care and identify opportunities for process improvement.
    • Maintains required clinical competencies, certifications, continuing education, and mandatory training.
    • Provides a welcoming, respectful, and patient-centered experience through clear communication, service excellence, and adherence to Novant Health's mission, vision, and values.
    • May have occasional exposure to radiation depending on the assigned clinic or specialty.
