Job Summary

A Medical Assistant, will be at the core of our outpatient clinic, assisting our skilled physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and physical therapists in delivering exceptional patient care. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our healthcare offices through strong administrative and organizational abilities. Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Takes and records patients, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight and vision test and reports abnormal patient conditions to the physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nurse or physical therapist
  • Responds to patient symptoms and complaints with first aid or consultation with nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physical therapist.
  • Prepares patients for specific minor surgery and treatment procedures which may include colposcopy, cryosurgery, IUD placement and endometrial biopsies and assists the provider as required during the procedure.
  • Prepares medical equipment, laboratory specimen collection materials and pharmaceuticals for patient office examinations.
  • Administers routine treatment procedures as ordered and supervised by physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists and nurses.
  • Under supervision, this position performs a variety of outpatient clinic tasks to assist physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and physical therapists in the care of patients.
  • Performs administrative and office duties to keep the health care offices running smoothly.
  • Schedules and confirms appointments.
  • Performs general office duties as needed.

General Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
  • Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
  • Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
  • Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements while monitoring expenses.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
  • May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of relevant experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required

  • Certified Medical Assistant upon date of hire.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This is a 10-month position.

Advertised Salary

$22.59 per hour which equates to $39,155.97 over 10 months.
