Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Duration: 1 year contract
Shift Schedule: Days only and Mon, Tue, Thu & Fri: 8 AM 5 PM; Wed: 12 PM 5 PM; 1-hour lunch; up to 5 days/week.
Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6 8 weeks
Certifications:
- Required: Current, applicable medical assistant certification or registration.
- Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Education: Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program
Experience Needed: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical medical assisting experience or completion of a medical assistant training program
Special Skills Needed:
- RPMS/EHR documentation
- Microsoft Office and Outlook
- Infection control (OSHA, CDC, IHS standards)
- Cultural sensitivity with an American Indian/Alaska Native patient population
- AAAHC standards
Responsibilities:
- Interview patients and obtain patient information
- Review and evaluate medical histories and current health status
- Obtain and record vital signs within scope of practice
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
- Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and patient care
- Perform clinical procedures within scope of practice and applicable orders
- Collect and prepare specimens as authorized
- Provide patient education and health promotion
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of care
- Respond to urgent or emergency patient needs within scope
- Document all patient encounters in RPMS/EHR, 100% within required timeframes
- Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and community health programs
- Take part in quality assurance and quality improvement activities as requested
