Position Summary
The Certified Medical Assistant III (CMA III) is an advanced-level clinical support professional responsible for providing high-quality patient care and operational support within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting. The CMA III performs complex clinical and administrative duties, supports providers and care teams, assists with care coordination, and may provide mentorship and leadership to other medical assistants. This role promotes patient-centered, culturally competent, and trauma-informed care consistent with FQHC standards and mission-driven healthcare delivery.
The CMA III demonstrates advanced competency in clinical workflows, electronic health records (EHR), quality initiatives, and population health management while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, HRSA regulations, and applicable state and federal guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, allergies, and chief complaints.
Perform advanced clinical procedures within scope of certification and state regulations, including:
Injections and immunizations
EKGs
Point-of-care testing
Specimen collection and processing
Medication administration
Wound care and dressing changes
Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
Monitor and maintain clinical supplies, equipment, and medication inventory.
Ensure exam rooms and clinical areas are cleaned, stocked, and compliant with infection control standards.
Support chronic disease management and preventive care initiatives.
