What is the Ohio Behavioral Health Apprenticeship Program?
This unique program, developed in collaboration with Lorain County Community College, Ohio Alliance of Recovery Providers (OARP), ApprenticeOhio, and the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, offers a comprehensive pathway to a career in behavioral health. Starting as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), participants can ultimately work towards an Associate Degree and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor II (LCDCII) licensure. Participants in this program earn $15/hour to start and advance to $18/hour as they complete their on-the-job training.

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:
Qualifications: Must be approved and selected by Ohio State Apprenticeship Council as an apprentice. High School diploma or equivalent and CDCA (Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant) or agreement to obtain a CDCA within program timeframe required. Current enrollment in an academic program that will prepare the candidate for certification or licensure as a chemical dependency professional. Maintains the required certification in good standing. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with regulations governing the disclosure of client information and storage of client's records required. Must adhere to the Counselor's Code of Ethics. Must demonstrate a positive attitude working with individuals receiving behavioral health care, including establishing professional rapport with clients. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
