The Certification Engineer will assist with the development of project specific certification plans; assist with testing; maintain certification data files; and assist with tracking progress to ensure certification projects maintain schedule and budget as well as adhere to FAA, customer, and ART ODA standards.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Work with the ODA staff to review customer statements of work to develop certification compliance matrix for aircraft project specific certification plans.
  • Assist with preparation of preliminary cost estimates, budgets, and implementation schedules. Produce substantiation data, test plans, test reports, certification plans and other certification data in accordance with design documentation, regulatory requirements, and Company standards while following guidance from the ODA Procedures Manual.
  • Review project certification data for completeness and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with obtaining acceptance and approval of design and certification data as part of new Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects.
  • Participate in certification aspects of technical coordination and design review meetings with customers, FAA and ODA staff.
  • Expand knowledge and expertise on aircraft development and testing techniques, FAA certification and the aerospace industry, in general.
  • Coordinate with customers (internal and external), FAA, suppliers, and co-workers to promote and support the Company's interests and our safety culture.
  • Coordinate effectively with management, other departments, and co-workers to implement and monitor strategic company and departmental initiatives.
  • Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally (10%).
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned by the ODA Administrator Lead.

  • BS degree in engineering or related scientific field. An equivalent level of experience may be substituted.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to learn and apply the scientific method to certification.
  • Must be able to create, check, interpret and analyze technical data.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, able to learn quickly, and work under pressure with a minimum level of supervision.
  • Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand the English language.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Part 21 and Part 25 regulations and their application in the supplemental type certification process.

  • Duties require normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations.
  • Duties require typical bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, etc. with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum.
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
