Description: The Certified Surgical Technician PRN is a member of the surgical team working with physicians, nurses, and other surgical personnel in delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery.
Typical Duties:
Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
Assists with patient care in a way that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection, accidental contamination, and protects the patient from harm.
Assists staff surgeons, residents, medical students, nursing students and surgical technology students with all surgical procedures and instructs on maintaining a sterile field.
Assists in monitoring adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to the established PAR level.
Participates in the quality improvement process.
Handles instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures.
Maintains all AORN and JCAHO standards at all times.
Picks and assembles all cases for same day and next day. Ensures that all cases have necessary equipment, implants, and special orders.
Communicates to Team Leader regarding delays and add-on cases completed.
