    Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, MI is seeking a CENTRAL THERAPY INSURANCE SPECIALIST to join our ONTONAGON OUTPATIENT THERAPIES team!

    The Central Therapy Insurance Specialist requires advanced knowledge of therapy insurance coverage, prior authorizations, therapy ICD and CPT knowledge, documentation and billing requirements for therapy and assist CBO in denial recovery processes. Monitors insurance workflows throughout the Aspirus outpatient therapy departments. Educates and trains office and therapy staff on proper insurance authorization requirements and office workflows. Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of therapy insurance standards of practice. This position is critical to the Aspirus Outpatient Therapy Department as a means to ensure accurate prior and ongoing authorizations and payment for all therapy patients. This position is also a critical resource for staff regarding authorization, documentation, billing, and recertification processes.

    HOURS: Full Time; 1.0 FTE or 80 hours per pay period. Day Shift.

    Experience/Qualifications

    • Knowledge of therapy requirements for medical insurance and government payer standards and procedures normally acquired through completion of an Associate Degree in Business, or a High School diploma, GED or equivalent with a minimum of three years'' experience in medical insurance and government payers beneficial.
    • Knowledge of therapy CPT and ICD coding beneficial.
    • Previous applicable experience beneficial.
    • Possesses an overall understanding of insurance and government authorizations in a health care organization.
    • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritize, the ability to work independently and attention to accuracy and timeliness in all work process.
    • Possesses the ability to troubleshoot and multi-task.
    • Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
    • Is self-directed and displays good judgment with attention to detail.
    • Possesses excellent organizational skills.
    • Possesses the ability to meet deadlines and to work with many changes within the insurance and government payer process.
    • Annual competencies as required by Aspirus and/or various regulatory agencies based on entity and/or job position.
