    A central sterile technician (also called a sterile processing or central service technician) cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, and sterilizes surgical and medical instruments.]
    Core Responsibilities
    • Decontamination: Collects used, contaminated instruments, wears personal protective equipment (PPE), and washes items manually or via automated equipment like ultrasonic cleaners and washers.
    • Inspection and Assembly: Tests instruments for proper function, checks for wear and tear, and organizes tools into specific procedural trays using count sheets
    • Sterilization: Operates and monitors autoclaves or low-temperature sterilizers, running quality control tests and documenting cycles.
    • Inventory Management: Restocks supplies, manages par levels, checks expiration dates, and prepares case carts for the operating room.
