Central Intake Processor

As part of Central Intake, you’ll help ensure important policy and customer documents are accurately processed, scanned, routed, printed, and mailed to support efficient service across the organization. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working under direct supervision, this role supports policy issuance, Central Intake scanning, correspondence, and document workflows.

Horace Mann is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Central Intake Processor to join our Supplemental & Group Operations team. As part of Central Intake, you’ll help ensure important policy and customer documents are accurately processed, scanned, routed, printed, and mailed to support efficient service across the organization.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working under direct supervision, this role supports policy issuance, Central Intake scanning, correspondence, and document workflows. Key Responsibilities

Policy Issuance & Processing

• Verify the accuracy of policy print documents against corresponding applications.
• Confirm policies are active prior to mailing.
• Print applications for duplicate policies and Policy Owner Services (POS) mailings and assemble policy packages for distribution.
• Process policies requiring special handling, including applicable state-specific requirements.
• Build duplicate policies for older policy records as needed.
• Create and maintain daily reports related to policy printing activity.

Document Intake & Workflow Management

• Open, sort, scan, and route incoming mail and documents into the appropriate workflow queues for Supplemental, Group, and P&C business areas.
• Release jobs from workflow queues for printing.
• Process and mail correspondence on behalf of departments across the organization.
• Complete claims back-scanning and assist with Claims document linking as needed.
• Maintain files appropriately until they are eligible for purging.
• Ensure documents are accurately classified, processed, and routed to support downstream business processes.

Operational & Department Support

• Assist with departmental requests and special projects as needed.
• Maintain cross-training across Central Intake responsibilities to provide flexible team coverage.
• Provide backup support to the front desk when needed.
• Collaborate with team members and business partners to ensure work is completed accurately and timely.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years of office experience.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow established procedures and manage multiple tasks.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn document processing and workflow systems.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Pay Range:

• $16.59 - $22.28/hr. + bonus
